FAQ

1What technology do you use for tattoo removal?
Reset Tattoo removal employs the use of the state-of-the-art tattoo removal lasers- the Quanta Q-Plus-C laser. It produces the 1064nm, 532nm and 694nm wavelengths. Colors red and orange are targeted by the 532nm wavelength. The light blue and green inks, which happen to be the most difficult ink colors, are targeted by the 694nm wavelength. The Quanta Q-Plus-C laser three wavelengths are full-powered to eliminate resistant inks when other lasers cannot.
2How does the laser remove the tattoo ink?

There are two processes through which the laser removes the tattoo inks:

  • The pigment in the tattoo absorbs the energy produced by the laser and then shatters into smaller pieces, and
  • The fast pulse of energy from the laser (which has a shockwave-like effect) aids the removal of the ink. This makes the ink to break into smaller granules.
3How does the body get rid of the shattered ink?
The body responds to the broken ink by moving fluid to the area to get rid of the ink. This response is noticed by the patient in the form of swelling and redness in the area. The shattered inks will be flushed away naturally over the subsequent days, weeks or months.
4Why do I need multiple treatments?
Tattoos have layers of inks which are stacked over each other in the skin. This layer cannot be broken down in one session. At Reset Tattoo Removal, we will go over your whole tattoo with our lasers and break as much ink as we could in every session. Some level of fading will be noticed in each session. If you have tattoos with shading, the shaded areas will disappear in fewer treatments due to the low ink density in shaded tattoos.
5Are tattoo removal creams or injections effective?
No, they are not. There is no evidence that supports the effectiveness of the so-called “magic creams” in fading tattoos. They can only act as skin bleach to lighten the skin surrounding. The creams are simply a waste of time and money. Injection is even worse because it introduce harmful acids into the skin. These compounds lead to severe chemical burns.
6How much does each treatment cost?
The cost of each session is dictated by the size of your tattoos. During the free consultation, we will price each session to give you an estimate. Your tattoo will be categorized based on its size. We will offer huge discounts for purchasing a package of treatments in advance and treating multiple tattoos in the same session. Large tattoos are given custom prices per session. Our pricing is competitive.
7How many sessions will be required to remove my tattoo?
The number of sessions required to remove your tattoo depend on:
  • The age of the tattoo
  • The ink color, and
  • The density of the ink

Age

Older tattoos can be removed by fewer treatments than newer tattoos. Black ink tattoo that is 10 years old may require one or two treatments less than a 1 year old black tattoo.

Color

Some colors can be easily removed when compared to others. Black and red are the easiest ink colors to remove. Orange, yellow, pink, purple, brown and other shades are slightly more difficult to remove while light green, light blue and teal are the most difficult to remove. During your free consultation, we will discuss the number of treatments that will be needed to remove certain colors.

Density of ink

Shading in tattoos can be easily removed. Some tattoos that contain letters fill the outlines of the letters with shading. Shadings can be removed in few sessions in most cases.

8Will the laser procedure cause scar on my skin?
No. Modern tattoo removal lasers such as the Quanta Q Plus C that we make use of will not scar your skin because the laser does not go deep enough in your skin to and the pulse from the laser is very fast and only the tattoo pigmentation is affected while the surrounding cells and tissue are not damaged.
9Does the procedure hurt?
No. You can compare the feeling of removing the tattoo with what you feel when getting the tattoo applied. The major difference is that laser tattoo removal is quicker. You can compare the discomfort with that of a rubber band snapping against your skin. The removal of black ink tattoos is slightly less uncomfortable colored tattoos because of the wavelength of light that we use to remove the ink.
10What side effects will I experience?
Some side effects include some redness, swelling and minor blistering of the skin. These are temporary and the skin will heal back completely. We provide aftercare instructions that will help our clients manage their skin after the laser treatment.
